The Miss UWI Mona pageant will be in full blast on March 21, 2014 (let’s hope they don’t postpone again!) at the Mona Visitors Lodge, according to the Miss UWI Mona Twitter page. There are many persons unaware of the competition, mainly because there has not been sufficient updates on the event. We have barely even gotten to know who the girls are (apart from their little appearances at Integration Thursdays), as there has been no official photos of the girls, though their Twitter page stated that they would have been uploaded on March 12. However, as soon as I get more information such as the time, etc., I will update this post.
For this post however, I wanted to share two outfit ideas for the pageant that are so simple and easy to put together but are still so stylish. I believe pageants are a classy event and you should dress accordingly.
So for the first look, I combined this animal print bustier top with this elegant pleated maxi skirt. This combination allows your two pieces to be transformed into one to appear as a long flowy dress. Very versatile! I stayed with a black and gold theme for this one adding this gold metal plate belt, gold and black earrings, black clutch with gold accents, and a simple gold watch. A pair of simple black ankle strap sandals wraps up the final look!
Makeup & Hair Tip: I would recommend a very natural look for your makeup choice and your hair in a high bun.
My final look is for my blazer-loving ladies. I’ve been so into blazers lately because it adds some interest to a plain outfit. I’ve been adding a few colours to my wardrobe lately (mint is my latest), but I truly believe that every woman should at least own a classic black blazer. It can make just about any oufit look more polished and sophisticated! Here I went with a plain white outfit consisting of a plain white tank top and a pair of super slim white jeans. Boring, eh? But that’s where the blazers come in! Add either this coral blazer or a dark teal one (yellow would work great for this look too!), and accessorize with a gold muti-strand long necklace and this gold two-finger chain ring. For the coral blazer, this coral and gold bracelet would be a great addition too. Nude pumps were my favourite option for this outfit, as well as a nude clutch.
Makeup and Hair Tip: If you choose to wear the coral blazer, I would recommend that you go with nude lips or just a little gloss. If you choose the dark teal blazer, soft pink lips would go great. As for your hair, I would suggest you wear it down with some loose flowing curls.
